Life in Louisville

The de Kanter family has been in Louisville for about two months now, and we have had some big weeks since we’ve arrived! As some of you know, I have been shocked at how many doors for ministry the Lord has opened up for us in such a short time at the University of Louisville (U of L).

Most of these opportunities came as Sarah and I began to collaborate with a college ministry called Ignite: coffee truck ministry on the edge of campus, pancake night in the middle of campus, Worship on Tuesday nights at Ignite HQ, three separate “friendsgivings” (one with students from Bellarmine University), crokinole nights at our house, attending student soccer club games, discipling three staff members in preparing and delivering messages, mentoring a young man in apologetics and now being asked to develop a two year rotating curriculum to train a new generation of missionaries to the modern West (including seminars in the Bible, theology, spiritual life, evangelism and apologetics).

In addition to this, I just received word that there might be a passenger van heading our way that we can begin using to shuttle students to and from church on Sundays! Please pray that the Lord will continue to make a way for Sarah and I to enter into a regular rhythm of ministry with the students we will serve together at U of L.

For those who don’t know, we were able to get the house we were all praying for. Praise God! It is about a mile from the University and Ignite HQ. We have big dreams for this house becoming a place to hold seminars and events for students. We have a detached garage that would be perfect one day for larger seminars and dinners; and currently, we are waiting for a contractor's schedule to clear up so he can help us retrofit our basement into a Better Story Ministries office for me and a hang out spot for staff meetings and book discussions with students. These are things you can pray for.
